You might be considering booking a maternity session, and found yourself here because you’re wondering what the heck to expect during a session with me. So I am going to walk you step by step through my sessions!
Inquiring with a photographer can seem a little overwhelming. I try hard to make this process as stress free as possible. I know its hard to trust someone during this whole process who is a complete stranger to you. When you inquire, before even discussing pricing, or the process, I’ll ask you some easy questions such as your due date, the size of your family, if this is your first baby, etc. These questions give me a better idea of how to serve you and your growing family. Not only do these questions help me get to know you a little better, they also help me to determine if I have the availability for your session. I only take on a handful of maternity and newborn sessions per month, limiting me to only a handful of new clients!
After determining if I have the availability for the session you’re inquiring about I will then send you my full booking guide. Included in this is the session process, session fee pricing and product pricing. A session with me means a session ending with heirloom quality products. Printed products is such an important part of this process, but I’ll talk a bit about that later. Once your booking fee is paid we will schedule a client closet consult and start planning your session.
When we begin planning your session, we will look at locations first. The location will really determine a lot about your session, but most specifically, your wardrobe for the session! Each gown (out of the 40+) in the client closet, matches best with different locations. Some bring high class, indoor or urban vibes while others are best for open areas or water. Depending on what you want out of your session, we may choose the gown first or the location first. It really depends on what is most important to you.
For example, maybe you have a family property that is important to you that you want to have included in your session, in this case we would choose the gown to match the location. If you have no location in mind, or really don’t care about where we shoot, we will choose your gown first.
After you try on and choose your gowns, I will send a prep guide to you. This guide includes what to expect the day of your session as well as a style guide to help you choose the best attire for your family to wear to the session. I always recommend you dress your family in neutrals, to keep you the star of the show becuase at the end of the day, this session is for YOU!
The day of your session I will meet you during your professional makeup, whether its done in studio, in your home or in the makeup artist studio, I will be there to make sure you are comfortable and ready for the day. We will head the the session location from there. Here is where you change into your first gown and we start shooting!
During the session I will direct you and make sure you feel confident, beautiful and strong. I will direct you with prompts and posing! I will ask you to do a few silly things, but I promise they are worth it and bring out the best smiles.
One to two weeks after you session, I will reach out to schedule your reveal session. At this session, you will get to view all of the images from your session, choose your products and digitals and leave the same day with prints! Any additional products will be ordered at that session and will be available for pickup within a few weeks depending on the products!
